I am Rei Paki.

No, I am not the nephew of the recently-ousted dictator of a small African nation. I do not have $50 million to wire out of the country. I also do not sell pharmaceutical products online.

What I do starts with making ideas work for your company. They might be your ideas. They might be mine. I’ve found they usually work best when they’re a combination of both.

I’ve spent more than 10 years now finding a title that best fits what I do. I know it isn’t “Graphic Designer”, “Webmaster” or “Hey You”. Perhaps a title isn’t that important anyway. Let’s just leave it at “Nice To Have Around”. Apparently, it’s Executive Producer.

So, I create stuff from bits (online things) and pieces (here in the real world) for clients. My aim in doing this is to give them (you?) every opportunity of communicating with their clients. That’s the design business I’m in. Connecting people together. Branding. Relationships. Not tossy one word sentences.

I can bore your to tears with terms like “Standards-Compliant Web Design”, “Interaction Design” and “PDF Workflows”. I can riff with the best of them about “Fundamentals of Animation”, “Marketing Communication Principles” or “AICC compliance”. But what does that really mean if you’ve missed the ‘connecting’ part?
